After stabilizing the Hanon group, <a href="http://bornzone.net/xe/historia" target="_blank">Sewon</a> was obliged to restructure the <a href="http://www.hanol.org/en/hanol.php" target="_blank">Hanol-gyo</a> religious foundation.1)

 

After assuming the leadership, he introduced the ”Art of Enlightenment and Awakening” which is the expression of the Hanol spirit in the form of art and architecture. <a href="http://www.powerkoream.co.kr/news/articleView.html?idxno=1102216" target="_blank">He attempted to integrate art with the spiritual teachings of Hanol principles in order to transform Hanol-gyo into a more liberal, flexible and innovative organization</a>. In accordance with the founder’s last will, he succeeded in persuading the board and the Hanol spiritual committee to officially make religious conversion unnecessary and constitutionalized religious multiplicity: Hanol-gyo allows its participants and adherents to practice other religions as well.2)

Instead of spending a massive amount of budget on the construction of religious churches and buildings in a time of financial crisis, he used the "Art of Enlightenment" to replace the symbolic function of the regional chapels of HANOL.

 

According to the <a href="http://blog.naver.com/hanol_blog" target="_blank">guidance to Hanol-gyo</a>, he expressed the essence of the transcendental teachings on enlightenment and awakening - the self-liberation of consciousness.3)

 

"Illuminating the uncontaminated lights of Enlightenment Art could represent the quintessence of the <a href="http://www.hanol.org/en/spirit.php" target="_blank">Hanol Spirit</a> better than a thousand books about its analysis or explanation."4)

He stated that "the uncontaminated pure lights of Enlightening Art can more accurately speak for the Hanol Spirit" than a thousand words he could use to explain.

 

He officially proclaimed that the symbolic function of the <a href="http://www.hanol.org/en/hanart.php" target="_blank">regional chapels of HANOL</a> could be replaced by the “Art and Architecture of Enlightenment”, and allowed particular traditional ceremonies and the formality of rituals to be substituted by a simple contemplation on the Enlightenment Art or meditation on self-awareness.5)

 

He attempted to transcend the existing belief system by integrating ‘Art and Spirituality’.

 
Sewon introduced the concept of 'Spiritual Audience' instead of the traditional notion of religious followers.

Art of Enlightenment and Awakening 

 

 

 
Trans-Art can also be regarded as the (Non-religious) elaboration of the '<a href="http://bornzone.net/xe/" target="_blank">Art of Enlightenment and Awakening</a>' - the reflection of <a href="http://blog.naver.com/hanol_blog/30186972324" target="_blank">Hanol Principle</a>6) which he introduced as the leader of the HANOL spiritual foundation.

 
Dangun, the Founding Father of Korea,7) initiated the 'Principles of Hanol Spirit' (the teachings on enlightenment and awakening) introducing the possibility of spiritual transcendence to its people - the evolution of human consciousness from the Ego-state to the Transcendental-state.1)

 
After 5000 years, the <a href="http://www.hanol.org/en/spirit.php" target="_blank">Hanol principles</a> were consolidated into a religious foundation by <a href="http://www.hanol.org/en/founder.php" target="_blank">Shin Jeong Yil</a>, the founder of the Hanol religion.8)

 
However, after the sudden passing of the founder in 1999,9) the legal descendent <a href="http://bornzone.net/xe/historia" target="_blank">Sewon Shin</a>10) inevitably took over the responsibility of leadership in an emergency, immediately after graduating from Oxford.11)

 

 
During his leadership, he expressed the essence of the transcendental philosophy of the <a href="http://www.hanol.org/en/spirit.php" target="_blank">'Hanol Principle</a>' in the 'spiritual art of Enlightenment and Awakening' based on his own experience.

After he resigned from the leadership of the HANOL foundation, he introduced Trans-Art.

 

Trans-Art can be considered the re-establishment of the '<a href="http://bornzone.net/xe/" target="_blank">Art of Enlightenment and Awakening</a>: the quintessence of Transcendental philosophy' in a pure art form (Non-religious form), examined by his own experience of spiritual awakening; and the elaboration of "<a href="http://bornzone.net/xe/on_Tokyo/13469" target="_blank">Super-Individual art</a> (i.e. Trans-ego art)” which he introduced at the Tokyo exhibition.

 

He is expressing a glimpse of ‘Enlightenment and Awakening’ which is ‘beyond form’ by using the ‘form of Trans-Art’.
